Swimming Lessons at Jalan Besar: Pool and SwimSafer Guide
Distinguish an ordinary lesson from a SwimSafer assessment or programme arrangement at Jalan Besar.
Verified local starting point
ActiveSG lists a wading pool, teaching pool and competition pool at Jalan Besar Swimming Complex, with Tuesday as the regular maintenance day. SportSG also lists Jalan Besar among its SwimSafer CAMS locations, but that does not make every lesson an official assessment.
Address: 100 Tyrwhitt Road, Singapore 207542
Check the official venue record first
Use the official Jalan Besar facility page for current hours, facility details and notices. Also check ActiveSG’s live facility-closure page before travelling. Published conditions can change, so this guide does not freeze temporary notices into permanent advice.
Separate lessons from official assessments
A regular class, a SwimSafer programme and a CAMS assessment are different arrangements. Ask whether the booking is instruction or assessment, who is responsible for registration, and which official confirmation identifies the date, venue and stage.
Confirm the correct entrance and meeting point
The swimming complex is part of the wider Jalan Besar Sport Centre environment. Agree on the exact entrance, pool-side meeting point, admission process and child handover before the first visit.
Public-pool coaching still needs confirmation
A public facility listing does not prove that a particular private instructor may conduct a paid lesson there. Confirm permission, admission, the meeting point, class size, water area, cancellation terms and what happens if the planned area is busy or closed.
Compare private and condominium pools separately
A permitted private or condominium pool may reduce travel, but management rules, guest entry, commercial-coaching restrictions, water depth and emergency arrangements vary. Obtain the required permission before booking and avoid sharing a full home address until it is necessary to confirm access.
Venue features do not replace supervision
Confirm the learner’s health, current water ability, responsible adult, instructor, supervision plan and emergency arrangements. Beginners should not practise alone.
Questions to ask before booking
- Which exact pool and teaching area will be used?
- Is the coaching arrangement permitted at that venue?
- Who is the assigned instructor, and what relevant experience do they have?
- What are the class size, duration, total fees and cancellation terms?
- What changes during lightning, maintenance or an unexpected closure?
- What access or support does this learner need from arrival to departure?
Compare nearby alternatives honestly
