About LearnSwim.sg

LearnSwim.sg is a free guide for people learning to swim in Singapore, written by the coaching team at Swim2u Swim School.

Why this site exists

Coaches hear the same questions from beginners every week. How do I stop sinking? Why do I run out of breath? Am I too old? Most answers online are either sales pages or technique articles written for people who can already swim. This site answers those questions plainly, in the order beginners actually need them.

Who writes it

The guides are written and reviewed by the coaching team at Swim2u Swim School, which teaches babies, toddlers, children and adults across Singapore at public swimming complexes, condominium pools and partner venues. Swim2u is:

  • an SSI (Swim Schools International) Swim Center,
  • an AUSTSWIM Certified Swim Center,
  • an Autism Swim Approved Center, and
  • an ISSA (International Swim School Association) accredited swim school.

Our teaching approach

We teach confidence before technique. Most learners who feel stuck were moved to strokes before they could relax, float and breathe out underwater. The LearnSwim Pathway on the home page reflects the order we teach in, and we're clear that everyone moves through it at their own pace.

Editorial standards

  • We explain technique in plain language and avoid jargon.
  • We don't promise fixed timelines, because learning speed varies.
  • We include safety guidance where a skill carries risk.
  • We don't give medical or psychological advice. Where that's relevant, we suggest talking to a professional.
  • Guides are reviewed and updated as we learn what beginners find confusing.
