Swimming Lessons in Katong: Pool and Closure-Check Guide
Check the exact water area as well as the complex status because one pool can close while other areas remain open.
Verified local starting point
ActiveSG lists Katong Swimming Complex as a normal pool at 111 Wilkinson Road and names Tuesday as the regular maintenance day. The live facility page may also carry time-limited notices affecting only part of the complex.
Address: 111 Wilkinson Road, Singapore 436752
Check the official venue record first
Use the official Katong facility page for current hours, facility details and notices. Also check ActiveSG’s live facility-closure page before travelling. Published conditions can change, so this guide does not freeze temporary notices into permanent advice.
Treat partial closures as lesson-specific
An open-complex status does not prove that the intended teaching area is available. Check the official page close to the lesson date, identify the pool named in any notice and ask the provider whether the plan or meeting point changes.
Do not infer an unpublished pool inventory
The current official page does not publish a detailed permanent pool inventory. Ask the provider to identify the exact water area, depth, entry method and crowd fallback instead of assuming that every lesson format fits the venue.
Public-pool coaching still needs confirmation
A public facility listing does not prove that a particular private instructor may conduct a paid lesson there. Confirm permission, admission, the meeting point, class size, water area, cancellation terms and what happens if the planned area is busy or closed.
Compare private and condominium pools separately
A permitted private or condominium pool may reduce travel, but management rules, guest entry, commercial-coaching restrictions, water depth and emergency arrangements vary. Obtain the required permission before booking and avoid sharing a full home address until it is necessary to confirm access.
Venue features do not replace supervision
Confirm the learner’s health, current water ability, responsible adult, instructor, supervision plan and emergency arrangements. Beginners should not practise alone.
Questions to ask before booking
- Which exact pool and teaching area will be used?
- Is the coaching arrangement permitted at that venue?
- Who is the assigned instructor, and what relevant experience do they have?
- What are the class size, duration, total fees and cancellation terms?
- What changes during lightning, maintenance or an unexpected closure?
- What access or support does this learner need from arrival to departure?
Compare nearby alternatives honestly
Geylang East likewise requires precise water-area questions, while Bedok publishes more detailed learner and training-pool information. Use the Singapore lesson-location scorecard to compare options consistently.
