Swimming Lessons in Yio Chu Kang: Pool and SwimSafer Guide
Separate ordinary instruction from official assessment arrangements while planning access to the exact swimming complex.
Verified local starting point
ActiveSG lists a competition pool, teaching pool and wading pool at Yio Chu Kang Swimming Complex, with Thursday as the regular maintenance day. SportSG also lists Yio Chu Kang among its SwimSafer CAMS locations.
Address: 202 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 9, Singapore 569771
Check the official venue record first
Use the official Yio Chu Kang facility page for current hours, facility details and notices. Also check ActiveSG’s live facility-closure page before travelling. Published conditions can change, so this guide does not freeze temporary notices into permanent advice.
Distinguish lessons from assessments
A regular class and a centralised SwimSafer assessment are different bookings. Confirm whether the session is instruction or assessment, who handles registration and which official confirmation contains the venue, stage and timing.
Check the exact facility number
The pool, sport centre and stadium use nearby but different addresses on Ang Mo Kio Avenue 9. Use 202 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 9 for the swimming-complex listing and confirm the meeting point.
Public-pool coaching still needs confirmation
A public facility listing does not prove that a particular private instructor may conduct a paid lesson there. Confirm permission, admission, the meeting point, class size, water area, cancellation terms and what happens if the planned area is busy or closed.
Compare private and condominium pools separately
A permitted private or condominium pool may reduce travel, but management rules, guest entry, commercial-coaching restrictions, water depth and emergency arrangements vary. Obtain the required permission before booking and avoid sharing a full home address until it is necessary to confirm access.
Venue features do not replace supervision
Confirm the learner’s health, current water ability, responsible adult, instructor, supervision plan and emergency arrangements. Beginners should not practise alone.
Questions to ask before booking
- Which exact pool and teaching area will be used?
- Is the coaching arrangement permitted at that venue?
- Who is the assigned instructor, and what relevant experience do they have?
- What are the class size, duration, total fees and cancellation terms?
- What changes during lightning, maintenance or an unexpected closure?
- What access or support does this learner need from arrival to departure?
Compare nearby alternatives honestly
Jalan Besar is another published CAMS location, while Hougang lists a teaching pool without the same assessment context. Choose based on the actual programme. Use the Singapore lesson-location scorecard to compare options consistently.
