Swimming lesson costs in Singapore: comparison guide

A headline fee is not enough to compare lessons. Ask for the total payable amount, what it includes, the actual instructor-to-learner arrangement, and the terms that apply when weather, illness or closures affect a session.

Ask for a complete written quote

Request the amount per session and for the full commitment, lesson duration, number of learners, venue, included items, additional charges, payment timing, expiry, cancellations and replacements. Compare identical units before deciding.

Swim2u's published rates

These are the rates on Swim2u's pricing page, which was marked as last reviewed on 4 October 2026 when we copied them on 23 October 2026. Each package is 4 lessons. Fees are per person (per pax) for groups. Check that page for any change before paying.

Same rates normalised per lesson

The table below divides each four-lesson package by four. These are derived figures for comparing the same unit, not new quotes or market averages. The package total remains the amount to confirm before booking.

Package1 to 1 per lesson2 learners per person, per lesson3+ learners per person, per lesson
Swim Baby$80$50$40
Swim Tots$70$47.50$35
Swim Kids$70$47.50$35
Swim Adult$80$50$40
Swim Lady$90$55$45
Swim Familyn/a$50$40
Special Needs$80$55n/a

Lesson duration still matters: Swim Baby, Swim Tots and Special Needs are listed as 30 minutes, while Swim Kids, Swim Adult, Swim Lady and Swim Family are listed as 45 minutes. Do not compare the derived amounts without comparing duration and learner ratio.

Swim2u publishes Swim Adult and Swim Lady as separate programmes with different prices. That is a provider-specific pricing distinction, not evidence that every female coach in Singapore costs more. Confirm the assigned coach and current programme price rather than assuming a general surcharge.

Swim2u also publishes a separate 12-lesson school-holiday programme with its own one-to-one and one-to-two fees. See the school-holiday programme guide rather than treating those fees as part of the standard four-lesson table.

Swim2u's pricing page asks you to confirm the total fee, lesson length, group size, venue or pool-entry costs, coach availability and the cancellation or replacement terms before payment. It does not say that pool entry is included, so ask.

Swim2u terms that affect cost

Summarised from Swim2u's booking-terms summary (last updated 30 September 2026). That summary says Swim2u's full Terms and Conditions govern if the two differ, so read the full terms before booking.

  • Payments are non-refundable and non-transferable, and are due before the first lesson of each cycle.
  • Group and private packages must be completed within 4 weeks, or outstanding lessons are forfeited.
  • Group lessons: no refund, compensation or make-up for absence, late arrival or cancellation. Lessons are weekly.
  • Private lessons: same-day cancellations are not accepted. With one day's notice and a valid medical certificate, a make-up lesson can be arranged with the coach.
  • Rain or unsafe weather: the coach and pool authority may cancel or postpone. If a lesson has started and is stopped by rain, there is no make-up lesson. Drizzle alone does not cancel a lesson.
  • For condo lessons, the client arranges access with the condo management and pays any fees it charges. If the coach is refused entry, the lesson still counts as conducted.
  • Withdrawing needs one month's notice.

Why this guide does not publish one price range

Swimming lesson prices can vary by provider, assigned coach, lesson format, group size, venue, travel, programme, duration and package terms. A range copied from an advertisement or competitor can become outdated and may exclude charges that apply to a particular booking.

This page therefore does not claim a market average or cheapest provider, and the Swim2u rates above are not a market comparison. Obtain a current quote for the exact learner, location, format and schedule.

Compare the same unit

QuestionWhy it matters
Is the amount per learner, group or session?A shared fee and an individual fee cannot be compared directly.
How many minutes are taught? Two sessions with the same headline amount may have different durations.
What is the maximum group size? The lesson label may not reveal how many learners share attention.
How many sessions are required upfront?A per-session figure may involve a larger package commitment.
When does the package expire?Unused sessions may have conditions or deadlines.
Is GST included where applicable? The displayed amount should be compared with the total payable amount.

List every possible cost

  • Lesson fee: per learner, group, session or package.
  • Pool entry: learner, caregiver and instructor where applicable.
  • Registration or assessment: whether charged separately.
  • Venue or travel: whether the location affects the quote.
  • Equipment: what is required, optional, supplied or rented.
  • Programme or test: only if relevant to the chosen course.
  • Payment processing: any disclosed charge for a method.
  • Cancellation or replacement: what happens to a missed session.

The beginner equipment guide helps separate necessary items from optional training aids. Ask before buying equipment for lesson one.

Use Singapore price-transparency guidance

The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore's current policies and positions page says CCCS supports price transparency and that businesses should be upfront about the price they charge and avoid hidden charges. Use that principle as a practical reason to ask what the quoted total includes.

This page is a comparison checklist, not legal advice. Refer to the current CCCS source for its full wording and context.

Private, small-group and group pricing

Do not assume that one label automatically gives better value. A private lesson may concentrate feedback on one learner; a suitable group may distribute the session cost differently. The result depends on the actual instructor, number and mix of learners, duration, venue and how instruction is adapted.

Use the private-versus-group lesson guide to compare the learning format as well as the cost structure.

Venue costs can change the comparison

For public pools, check current entry information and confirm whether admission is included. For condominium lessons, confirm management permission and any guest or venue requirements. For other private pools, ask who operates the venue and what access costs apply.

The Singapore lesson-location guide compares travel, access, pool fit and total weekly commitment. The nearest venue is not necessarily the lowest-cost or most sustainable option once transport and caregiver time are included.

Can ActiveSG credits pay for swimming lessons?

ActiveSG's current MyActiveSG+ guidance says ActiveSG credits can be used to purchase gym and pool passes and offset eligible programmes shown in MyActiveSG+. After a parent links a child, ActiveSG's child-credit FAQ says the child's credits may be used for purchases made on that child's behalf, including an assigned swim pass. Its individual-rates page lists current swim-entry and monthly-pass charges.

That does not establish that a separate third-party coaching invoice can be paid with ActiveSG credits. Check whether the exact programme appears as eligible in MyActiveSG+ and ask the lesson provider what its written quote covers. Unless the booking explicitly says otherwise, treat public-pool entry and the coaching fee as separate costs.

Understand cancellation and replacement terms

  1. How much notice is required from the learner?
  2. What happens if the learner is ill?
  3. What happens if the coach cancels?
  4. What happens during lightning, unsafe weather or a facility closure?
  5. Is a replacement lesson offered, credited or forfeited?
  6. Must a replacement occur within a deadline?
  7. What happens if the assigned coach or venue changes?

Ask for the answer before paying. A cheaper headline fee may not be cheaper for a household if replacement rules make regular attendance impractical.

Do not convert this into a claim that the lowest calculated amount is the best lesson. Teaching fit, safety, communication, venue suitability and the learner's needs still matter. Use the coach-selection checklist alongside the cost comparison.

Questions before payment

  • Who is the assigned coach?
  • What exact venue, schedule and lesson format apply?
  • What is included in the total payable amount?
  • Which items are optional?
  • Can the coach, group or venue change?
  • When do sessions or credits expire?
  • What written cancellation and refund terms apply?
  • Which verified recipient and payment method should be used?
  • Will a receipt or payment record be provided?

Verify the recipient before transferring

Use the payment instructions confirmed through the provider's published contact route rather than an unexpected message or newly supplied link. If paying by PayNow, the Association of Banks in Singapore says to verify that the recipient name displayed by the banking app is correct before confirming the transfer. Do not guess a mobile number or UEN from another website, and pause if the displayed recipient differs from the provider's confirmation.

ScamShield's current phishing guidance recommends using the official banking app, avoiding payment links or QR codes from unknown people, and independently checking unsolicited links. Keep the written quote and bank confirmation or receipt. These steps reduce payment error and impersonation risk; they do not establish the provider's current payment method or recipient details.

For lesson one, use the first swimming lesson checklist to confirm what to bring, where to meet and who supervises before and after instruction.

Price does not prove suitability or safety

A high or low fee does not establish teaching quality, credentials, supervision or learner fit. Verify the instructor and venue arrangement, and do not accept guaranteed outcomes based only on a package price.

Common questions

Can ActiveSG credits pay for swimming lessons?

ActiveSG says its credits can buy pool passes and offset eligible programmes shown in MyActiveSG+. After a parent links a child, the child's credits may be used for purchases made on that child's behalf, including an assigned swim pass. This does not establish that a separate third-party coaching fee is eligible. Check the exact programme listing and ask the provider; treat pool entry and coaching as separate charges unless written terms say otherwise.

How much do swimming lessons cost in Singapore?

There is no single current amount that applies to every provider, venue or lesson format. Ask for a written quote showing the total payable amount, lesson duration, number of learners, included items, pool entry, travel, registration, cancellation and replacement terms.

Is a private swimming lesson always more expensive?

Do not assume this from the lesson label alone. Compare whether the amount is per learner, group or session, then compare duration, venue costs, travel, package terms and the number of learners sharing the instructor.

What should a swimming lesson quote include?

It should make the lesson fee and unavoidable charges clear, state what is included, identify optional items, and explain payment, expiry, cancellation, weather, closure and replacement-lesson terms.
